Life Lately

I could probably spend hours updating you on everything we have been up to since my last post (which was WAY too long ago) but I think this blog will probably end up with mostly picture updates.

Both boys are doing great! Carter continues to amaze us with his vocabulary and "wittiness" - he is so funny and makes us laugh every day. He remembers almost everything we say and will repeat everything we say, even if we are not talking to him! He can count to 10 (sometimes to 12 or 13) but often starts with 3. Not sure what happened to 1 and 2?! He knows his full name is Carter De Koster and will tell you he is from Orange City, Iowa. He knows most of his colors and will be happy to tell you what color everything is if you ask. He knows almost every animal and animal sound and his new favorite hobby is making snowmen outside with daddy. And.....he is, for the most part, completely potty trained!! He does have an occasional accident if he is playing with friends and forgets to tell someone if he needs to go. He has taken an interest in coloring lately and has inquired about play-doh...but we haven't ventured into this yet because I (very type A) am not sure how I would handle it if he mixed the colors together. Anyone who knows me well understands the potential dilemma here :)

Jude is also doing well - and growing very quickly! He is a very "healthy" boy as our doctor called him at his 6 month check-up! He weighed 18 lbs. 6 oz. (65th %) and was 27.5" long (86th %) at his last appointment in March. We weighed him today (May 5th) and he was up to 21.2 lbs. He is a full pound heavier and almost 2" longer than Carter was at this age. He LOVES to eat and continues to have a great temperament (as long as he's fed! :) ) We started some baby food after he turned 6 months and he has taken to that very well. Homemade broccoli, peas, beans, squash, sweet potatoes, and applesauce have been his starter foods. (Made with a food processor and ice cube trays...and lots of help from Grandma!) He has also continued to be a great sleeper for us - down around 8:00 PM and up around 7:00 AM. He has two bottom teeth and  spends most of his time rolling around the floor from room to room! No crawling yet, but it probably won't be long.

And now on to pictures - how we have been spending our time these past couple of months:

SNOW

Our snowman "Larry" - He was devastated 2 days later when Larry melted!

Pump Parts Anyone? Avert your eyes if this is too much, but had to document what we spend a good deal of our time doing - washing! :) (Jon is such a trooper! A real man can assemble pump parts in 0.2 seconds :) )

Shower Project

OK - I really did think I would be better at keeping this blog updated. :) It's amazing how busy our two little boys keep us...along with full time jobs, church obligations and activities, small group, friends, family, and most recently...house projects! When we built our house, we had a shower "surround" put in our master bathroom with intentions to take out the surround and tile it someday. Well, that "someday" took place over the past 5-6 weeks and as of yesterday, it is DONE! Jon did a wonderful job and we feel so blessed to have such a "handy man" in our home. Now my job is to clean the inch of cement/tile dust from every surface of the house over the next week or so. Here are some pictures from start to finish. I didn't get a picture of the original shower with the surround, but I'm sure you can picture it! :)
